There are many different reconstruction techniques available. We can talk to you about the options that may be for you, but it is advisable that you also conduct an investigation on your own. There are two main techniques to reconstruct the breast:
• Reconstruction with implant: Place an implant filled with water with salt (saline solution), silicone gel or a combination of both.
• Autogenous reconstruction or flap reconstruction: Use tissue transplanted from another part of the body (such as the abdomen, thigh or back). Autogenous reconstruction may also include an implant.
In addition, you can also choose if you want to rebuild the nipple. (In some cases, it is possible to perform a mastectomy with preservation of the nipple, which protects the nipple and the skin of the surrounding area).
