Cervicoplasty, also known as facial cervical lift, is aimed at lifting and correcting loose skin that has accumulated under the jaw and also affects the dermis of the neck. By lifting this skin the mandibular contour is redefined, the neck regains its youthful appearance and the descent of other tissues is avoided. When treating the bands that are formed by separation of the muscles of the neck, it may be necessary to practice a small liposuction when this area has a significant adiposity, a technique that is applied carefully in order not to injure the delicate tissues of the neck . Some young patients also suffer from fat accumulation in the neck and, although thin, they look bloated and thick.

This circumstance adds years to the appearance and powerfully deteriorates the elegant neckline that is associated with youth.

In the correction of the fat accumulation under the chin, a small incision is made under and behind the chin (submental groove), through which the excess fat is sucked and the muscles of the neck are tractioned. Thanks to the latest practices by endoscopic means, the incisions that this obvious surgery could previously make are minimized.

What is a neck stretch?

A neck stretch is a surgical procedure by which the appearance that produces excess fat and sagging skin of the neck is improved.

How is cervicoplasty done, how does the double chin correct itself, how does the neck improve?

To correct neck off-hook or jowl several independent or combined procedures are used depending on the nature of the problem. If the jowl occurs only by accumulation of fat, a neck liposuction may be the best response, but if the muscles are sagging or lowered or if there is accumulated fat under the muscles, a tempering surgery of these muscles may be necessary. If the chin is dropped or is very small, this can also be corrected to achieve a better result.

How is jowl liposuction done?

To remove the fat from the jowls, the surgeon makes a very small incision in the neck, behind the chin, where there is usually a natural groove. Through this wound, with a very thin tube called a cannula, the excess fat cells are sucked out. Normally before liposuction the area has been injected with a liquid called sterile saline solution to make it tumescent or firm, the saline solution contains a local anesthetic and a medicine that decreases bleeding, this is done in order to reduce discomfort and postoperative inflammation.

After this procedure, a small bandage is placed around the treated area that is usually removed the next day. It is also recommended to use a bandage by pressing on the neck for a few days after the procedure or at night to facilitate the healing process of the treated area.

Disability is minimal and most people return their activities three to five days after the procedure. Although this procedure is not painful, an analgesic is formulated to minimize discomfort in the postoperative period. The results are observed immediately the bandage is removed and continue to improve while the inflammation is giving way during the first month after surgery.

How do you keep the muscles in your neck?

As a result of the passage of time or in young patients because of the hereditary burden, the neck muscle called the platysma begins to weaken, the middle line of the neck begins to fall with hanging bands, prominent and visible on each side. This added to the excess of the skin and the fat that begins to accumulate under the chin gives the appearance of a bloated and aged neck.
By means of the platysmaplasty, the muscles below the chin are kept. To do this, a small incision is made under the chin, through which the edges of the muscle are identified and joined with a suture. This forms a strong support that returns to the neck its elegant and defined image. Once the muscles of the platysma have been joined and tensed, it is less likely to begin to drop again, for this reason it is recommended to do this procedure in all rejuvenation surgeries, although the sagging is not yet evident.
Many times the muscle tempering and liposuction is done at the same time to improve the results.
When an ultra definition of the neck is desired, advanced techniques such as cervical corset and resection of deep fat to the platysma are used. With these techniques you can further improve the neck.
The surgery a soft bandage is placed around the head to protect the wounds. The bandage is removed the day after the procedure and a smaller and more comfortable dressing will be left after the fifth day. All points of the procedure are removed on the eighth day. Most people do not complain of pain after a neck lift surgery, however medications are formulated to relieve any discomfort.
Normally the disability is only 5 days, although it is recommended not to perform intense exercises or expose to the sun for a while longer.

Botox® for the neck

If your platysma muscle in the neck forms bands around the jowls, Botox® can be used to soften this appearance. However, if the bands are due to hanging skin due to aging, Botox ® can worsen its appearance because it can relax the muscle even more. In consultation, you can get a better idea of whether Botox® is good for you in the lower third of the face.

Am I going to look very warm?

One of the questions that many patients ask themselves is I going to see myself very temperate ?. This is a common mistake, it is thought that with the application of Botox ® you are going to get a frozen appearance, but the reality is that with Botox ®, only some negative expressions are limited, such as frowning and excessively raising the forehead without Remove positive gestures such as smiling. By adjusting the dose and distribution of Botox ® you can change the degree of expression as much as you wish.

Is there any limitation to what a neck stretch can achieve?

The neck stretch treats only the neck.
It does not correct problems of the area of the eyebrows that are better treated with a forehead lift or problems of the lower two thirds of the face that are better treated with a facelift.
